This blog is a diary of visual research.

An archive of ‘undisciplined’ meandering.

Glimpses of contemplation, musing, reading, wandering, collecting & gathering. Drawing in silence & sound, light & dark. Deep within this rumination is an honest account of the evolution behind creating, discovering, and traveling down the twisted life path of an artist.

Time

This work is a continuation of my previous post. Given this is such a time-consuming piece, it will probably be the subject of future posts also. I have changed parts of the charcoal background quite significantly since last month and continued the time-consuming line work.

For the past few months, I have only really focused on the third panel's bottom right-hand corner. And although it doesn't look like I have done a lot in that time, I have actually learned a lot in terms of how the graphite changes on the charcoal surface and how the light reflection changes based on direction and pressure of the line. I still have a lot to do and a lot to learn before this drawing is somewhat finished - well finished in my own mind anyway. I mentioned starting over again in my last post, and scrapping this drawing altogether. However, for now, I will soldier on even if just for the learning process.

The thing about this drawing is that it changes significantly with light. I quickly took these photos on my phone this afternoon, and they aren't super fantastic. I will take some more tomorrow and show how it changes at different stages of the day. For now though, this is it.

Updated images of the drawing at different times of the day. It has been raining for days here so I was unable to get some sunny photos.
