This blog is a diary of visual research.

An archive of ‘undisciplined’ meandering.

Glimpses of contemplation, musing, reading, wandering, collecting & gathering. Drawing in silence & sound, light & dark. Deep within this rumination is an honest account of the evolution behind creating, discovering, and traveling down the twisted life path of an artist.

Experiment in Drawing with Light #3

In hind sight this experiment was not the greatest of ideas. I decided to try transparent paper and light. It now seems really obvious that this combination would create a drawing so subtle it becomes possibly inconsequential. Having said that, subtlety isn't a bad thing and a drawing that is barely there can in a way be more intriguing.

From a technical point of view it was also really hard to see what you were doing on transparent paper. I wasn't going to upload these images but thought it is better to document everything.

Although not a successful experiment I did like the texture this drawing created because of the plastic nature of the drafting film (see details below).

Another interesting aspect of this experiment was that when I put black paper behind the transparent paper the drawing became more interesting. This then became a drawing about blocking out the light rather than with light...

After meeting with Jean Marie we decided that I should continue working with light and this transparent drafting film.

"This paper appears like skin and by putting holes in the skin it is like you are allowing it to breath." These marks could be scars/ body impressed/ scars on interior walls...this work speaks about time..."
